A group of Southern California students at Mesa Linda Middle School in Victorville were shocked to find their teacher dead when they walked into class. According to the Victorville Daily Press, the school thought that the teacher, Tamara Joyce Dawe, of Adelanto, had not shown up for school. The school gaurds unlocked her classroom to let her students in and were surprised to find her in the classroom, dead.
The police were called to the scene and have since stated that she died of natural causes. No foul play is suspected and an autopsy was scheduled for a later time during the week.
The school secretary Khristina Root reportedly told the Daily Press that Dawe was “the kind of person that just made your day better. She loved what she did and loved her students.”
Adelanto School District assistant superintendent Ross Swearingen stated that the students would have access to counseling until Thursday which is the last day of school.
