Queer Women of Color Film holds 8th Annual Festival

This past weekend marked the 8th Queer Women of Color Festival. The festival, which was held in San Francisco, CA premiered 39 short films as well as music, photography and literature.

The festival also showcased interesting documentaries from Chile and Colombia which explored queer and transgender experiences in Latin America.

Among the other interesting issues that were explored were the lives of queer Africans in the U.S. and a Mexican mother coming out to her grown children.

According to the Queer Women of Color media Arts Project website, “Queer Women of Color Media Arts Project (QWOCMAP) promotes the creation, exhibition and distribution of new films and videos that increase the visibility of queer women of color, authentically reflect our life stories, and address the vital social justice issues that concern our communities.”
