Election Day in Egypt Amid Political Unrest

This morning marked Egypt’s first free presidential election. For the next two days, in Cairo-the nation’s capital, the people will either vote for Ahmed Shafik who is a former air force general as well as Mr. Mubarak’s last prime minister and Mohamed Morsi..

Just a few days eralier, the country’s constitution court allowed ousted and jailed former President Hosni Mubarak’s last prime minister, Ahmed Shafiq, to remain in the race.

According to the NY Times, the results of the first round of the presidential election show Mr. Morsi in the lead.
